Amira Hanafi, Other People’s Words

Amira Hanafi is a writer and artist based in Cairo, Egypt. Working with language as a material, she assembles polyvocal archives connected to particular histories. From her research, she composes texts, digital and print publications, performances, and installations. She is the author of the books Forgery (Green Lantern Press, 2011) and Minced English. Her recent project, A Dictionary of the Revolution, won several prizes, including the 2019 Public Library Prize for Electronic Literature. Her work has most recently been exhibited at the Worth Ryder Art Gallery at UC Berkeley, the Dokk1 Library in Aarhus, and at Studio XX in Montreal, and published in Anomaly, Index on Censorship, and Ibraaz.
